Work From Home Sleeping GIF

Hi fam,

You’ve likely heard it before—sleep impacts everything. A plethora of research shows that one bad night can increase anxiety and mess with your mood, focus, and decision-making. Chronic sleep deprivation is linked to depression, burnout, increased irritability, and even physical health problems. We know sleep serves as a critical mental and emotional reset as well, allowing the brain to process emotions, consolidate memories, and recalibrate its stress-response system.

Oh not to mention it’s simply delightful.

We love that sleep is finally having its moment in the spotlight. With its contrast to our overstimulated lives, sleep can be a much needed retreat. With looming deadlines, notifications, and constant noise, sleep offers what feels increasingly rare: stillness.

If you struggle to fall or stay asleep, fret not, small and manageable changes can make a big difference. Here are five research-backed tips to level up your sleep game:

📱 Give your phone a bedtime. Blue light from phones and laptops suppresses melatonin, making it harder to fall asleep. Putting your phone to bed (and no, not your bed) an hour before bedtime can help your mind unwind.

📆 Stick to a schedule. It’s annoying to say and probably even more annoying to hear but going to bed and waking up at the same time every day (even on weekends) can train your body for better sleep.

🌑 Keep it cool and keep it dark. Cooler temps and blackout curtains support deeper, uninterrupted sleep. If you’re in an uncontrolled environment, try a sleep mask to block that ish out.

☕️ Avoid late-night caffeine. Caffeine stays in your system for hours—so that 3:00pm pick-me-up could have lasting effects on your sleep. opt for herbal tea or water instead.

🧘 Build a wind-down routine. Sometimes your brain needs a signal. Meditation, light stretching, or reading can help let your brain know that it’s time to chill.

Remember, quality sleep is not “self-care”—it’s a friggin’ necessity just like eating and breathing. You do not have to earn your sweet honk shoos – so unapologetically reclaim rest and let your brain recharge the way it’s meant to.
